This collection of letters was written by a Private in the C.S.A. cavalry to his family that lived in the Fayetteville area. McCollom enlisted in Fayetteville and served under Col. E.I. “Ras” Stirman of Fayetteville in Northwest Arkansas and in Mississippi campaigns. He was captured in that state and imprisoned in Fort Smith and later in Little Rock. He died at the age of 23 in 1864 at the Federal prison in Little Rock. 1 pages.
